Ike Turner: R.I.P.

iketurner.jpgSure, to some people he’s known as a man with questionable fashion choices, who used Tina Turner as a punching bag, but Ike Turner was also a great musician. Historically speaking, Ike pretty much invented what we now call rock-n-roll back in 1951 while recording the song “Rocket 88” for Memphis’ legendary Sun Studios. Ike was using a faulty amp that resulted in a distorted guitar sound that is now attributed to rock music. Although he seems to be better known for a long list of morally questionable activity that includes putting his foot in Tina’s ass, Ike Turner should be remembered for his musical legacy, which includes introducing the world to Tina in the first place.
