It is with great sadness that I must report that Ivan Dixon has passed away. Dixon is probably best known for his role as Kinch on the television series Hogan’s Heroes. The truth is that Dixon was an incredible actor and an accomplished director. His starring role as Duff Anderson in 1964’s Nothing But a Man (pictured above with co-star Abbey Lincoln) will go down in cinematic history as one of the single greatest portrayals of a black man ever committed to film. The film is brilliant, and Dixon is equally amazing. He also had key roles in such films as A Raisin in the Sun, A Patch of Blue, Car Wash, and an incredible number of television shows, including The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. free crazy frog ringtonesbox music ringtones sony,100 free music real ringtones, music ringtonespolyphonic ringtones t720sprint cell phone ringtonesdownload free kyocera ringtonesmotorola ringtones softwarehotlink caller ringtones, caller hotlink malaysia maxis ringtones,10 caller hotlink ringtones topfree ringtones tracfoneinfo nextel phone remember ringtones, ringtones for nextel phone, nextel i730 phone ringtonesmp3 ringtones convertercell phone ringtones game wallpaper, cell phone ringtones wallpaperfree motorola ringtones v170,motorola ringtones v170downloadable free metro pcs ringtones, free ringtones for metro pcs carrier, free metro pcs ringtonescomputer download free ringtonescell free phone ringtones wallpaper, cell phone ringtones wallpaper, cell phone ringtones and wallpaperblue tooth free ringtones, download free blue tooth ringtonesfree real music ringtones sprintfree mobile ringtones motorola, free mobile motorola ringtones, free mobile motorola phone ringtonesringtones maker, online ringtones maker, mac maker ringtonescomplimentary godsmack music ringtones, complimentary music ringtonesmp3 bollywood ringtonesmetro pcs phone ringtonesringtones for motorola cell phonefree get ringtonesgo phone ringtonesfree metro pcs phone ringtonesringtones for verizon wireless phone, ringtones for prepaid verizon wireless phonecalgary loan payday, calgary payday loanfast cash payday loan, payday us fast cash loanconsolidate payday loan debtameriloan loan paydaycash advance payday loancalculator loan paydaymoney tree payday loanno checking account payday loanez money payday loan,ez loan paydaygeorgia in loan online payday, georgia loan paydaycash advance payday loan softwarequick cash payday loanbest payday loanadvance america payday loancash fast loan online payday1000 loan payday,1000 advance payday loan, payday loan 1000 dollarpayday loan best rate, best payday loan, best loan paydayaafes loan paydayno teletrack payday loan, check loan no payday teletrack,1000 loan no payday teletrackcash til payday loanaafes payday loaneasy payday loanmilitary payday loan

ivan-dixon-3.jpgIn 1970 Dixon began directing. Between 1970 and 1993, he directed tons of television, including everything from The Waltons to Starsky & Hutch to Magnum P.I. to Greatest American Hero. But his two shining moments as a director came with two seminal blaxploitation films—1972’s Trouble Man and 1973’s The Spook Who Sat by the Door.

The Spook Who Sat by the Door remains one of my all-time favorite films. Dixon came under a lot of pressure while making that film, which was essentially banned in the United States for many years, and he seldom would talk about the movie. I had several conversations with him in the past, where he would say a few things, and then always say, “Look, I really don’t like talking about this.”

Dixon was 76 years old.
